The Role

Perth’s iconic world class, state of the art indoor entertainment and sports facility, Perth Arena is seeking a highly skilled Technical Operations Supervisor, with a can do attitude to join our Event Operations Team. The opportunity exists to take on this exciting and challenging role on a permanent, full-time basis.

Reporting to the Technical Operations Coordinator this role is pivotal in delivering events at Perth Arena. Working alongside internal departments and external touring production groups, this role is responsible for supervising activities in the main arena and function rooms associated with our client needs. These activities include but are not limited to set up, pack down, rigging, AV, staging, seating systems and maintenance of equipment within the venue. 

Main duties and responsibilities 
• Effectively aid with the day to day running of the department
• Supervise staff and maintain their productivity in carrying out allocated tasks
• Operate the Arena’s equipment including the use of Sico Staging system.
• Setup and operate sporting equipment ports timing equipment
• Setup, operate and maintain sporting surfaces including Basketball and Tennis.
• Basic setup of function and breakout spaces including seating arrangements, minor AV, cabling, projector and minor IT. 
• Operation of Audio Visual and Lighting Systems.
• Assist with recruitment, rostering casual staff and training of casual staff
• Promoting Perth Arena's Safety culture message with all staff and contractors 'Safety First, Last and Always'.
• Ensure equipment is inspected, serviced, maintained on a regular basis and the logged in accordance with the Workplace Health & Safety register.

Experience, skills and personal qualities
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role
• Experience in a large venue or multi-faceted environment is desirable
• Forklift, Rigging and Elevated Work Platform tickets are desirable 
• Experience using Autocad system is desirable
• Strong management and leadership skills to empower and motivate staff
• Good communication skills (verbal and written) 
• The ability to problem solve and think ahead
• Proficient in Microsoft office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint).
